This tour leaves at 8.30am, in a north-westerly direction towards El Valle.

Approximately 55 minutes from the city of Merida we enter the stunning Páramo de La Culata, a place of special mountain landsapes and small rivers, one of which is the River Mucujún, form which the water system of the City of Merida is obtained. Immediately after leaving the city, one starts to enjoy the mountain views, the beautiful tipical houses of the region, the nice plaes to enjoy ghood local food, and a very agreeable climate. The whole journey, although short, is entirely pleasurable.

The mountain light, the cloud affects, and the pintoresque houses in the región make parts of the journey seem magical, images presented from a dream. During the journey we will also visit handicraft shops and sellers of local produce, such as wines.

When we reach the end of the road, we will be at an altitude of 3100m above sea level, and in a zone where temperaturas vary between -2° C and 24° C. Here we can appreciate the great views of the mountains and of the National park Sierra La Culata, with Pico Pan de Azucar (4,700m) at the end, as well as feel the pure mountain air and enjoy a short horseride or healthy walk.

On our return to Merida, we will stop at the trout-farm monterrey, where one can fish, buy, or simply eat some Andean trout. There is also a family park for any children that go. Trout farms are the most important economical activities in the region.
